What does Route Research do?

Route Research is a research consultancy that has been tracking Internet service providers and domains since 2001. We collect, analyze, and archive published data about domains, nameservers, network operators, routing, hosting providers, service aggregation, and so forth.

What kind of customers does Route Research have?

The increasing commercial importance of the Internet has created a market for data about its growth and usage. Companies that require hard data include network service providers, hardware manufacturers, software developers, and financial analysts.

How much does it cost?

An initial consultation is always free. We're happy to take the time to understand your requirements and show you how we can help. We typically charge our customers an hourly rate. Many opt to purchase blocks of time in advance at a discount. Larger projects are billed 50% upon acceptance of initial estimates by both parties.

How do you get your data?

Data that we collect is published as a byproduct of the Internet's operation. You can not operate a website without an IP address provided via an authoritative nameserver. Domain names and their authoritative nameserver are examples of the types of published information that Route Research collects and records.

What kind of reports can you provide?

We occasionally publish sample reports as an introduction to our capabilities.
